Is Your Pet a Reiki Healer?

Animals can be attuned to Reiki, but is your pet a Reiki healer? I have attuned many dogs and cats who show varying interest in giving Reiki. It’s a great pleasure to be around horses initiated to Reiki. In the past, my dogs I attuned to Reiki held space during sessions by lying under the table. Now I’m discovering that my current dog, Ace, is proving to be an amazing Reiki dog. I attuned him when he was a year old and he is now five.

Discovering my dog is a Reiki healer

Ace the Reiki dog

Ace, is a 20 pound mini-pincher mix. He is quite the character, has high energy, loves to run, cuddle and makes an amazing guard dog. He has traces of separation anxiety which used to be pretty severe (chewed up piano bench, stick shift and turn signal on my car, etc).

I was quite amazed to discover a couple of months ago what a great Reiki dog he is. I think his small size works to his advantage. Most of my other dogs were too big and not agile enough to gracefully jump on the Reiki table.

A couple of months ago, one of my student’s was gracious enough to let me bring Ace along while I taught a Reiki Master Practitioner class at her home. When we were giving Archangel Raphael sessions early in the day Ace jumped up on the table. He crawled on the woman who was receiving and placed his paws on her abdomen while intently watching my hands over her heart chakra. He was entranced with the healing energy. After a while, he moved down to her feet to give Reiki. She confirmed with a smile on her face that she could feel the Reiki coming from this little Reiki dog.

He also jumped up on the table to give us Reiki later in the day when we were doing more sessions. When I was receiving I noticed he really did feel like another person giving Reiki. The energy was strong and seemed to radiate out of his whole body, not just his paws. He was attentive to the energy and even changed positions. He was respectful and calm.

Last weekend we held a Reiki share at the same house. I brought Ace along to see if he would show interest in giving Reiki again. He did jump up on me and my daughter when it was our turns, but he didn’t seem as interested in giving Reiki as last time, he only briefly gave me and my daughter Reiki.

Then it dawned on me that I hadn’t invited Archangel Raphael in, like I had the morning of the class Ace first started doing Reiki on others. I asked Archangel Raphael to join us in the Reiki share while we were giving to the third woman. Ace jumped up on the table right before she was done receiving. He placed he paws on her low back for a moment. Then jumped off the table.

Finally, while Angela Reilly, who is a Reiki Master Teacher, was on the table. Ace, the Reiki dog, showed up in all his glory. He moved around to different positions. He gave Reiki with his hind end to her root and sacral chakra areas. He used his paws and chin when he moved down to her feet.

When I moved away from her abdomen, he noticed an open space that needed more Reiki. He moved up to her solar plexus area and lied on her belly, putting his paws on the left side of her abdomen and then on her right. I personally felt the Reiki flowing most strongly to her abdomen and it seemed Ace could tell where she was calling for Reiki too.

So, in my experience with this particular Reiki dog, it seems to help to call on Archangel Raphael while working with Reiki. Raphael does work with pets and helps find lost pets. He guides healers, so it makes since he would guide a dog in using Reiki.

Discovering if your pet is a Reiki healer

First you will want to attune your pet to Reiki. If you are a Reiki Master you can do this yourself. Otherwise you will need to find a Reiki Master to do this for you.

Second, the animal needs to be willing to be attuned to Reiki. I haven’t really met one that isn’t willing. If you aren’t sure, just intend that they receive based on their own free will. It’s a good sign if you mentally ask them and they come sit by you or their human. If they walk or move away from you, it’s probably a good idea to try at another time.

Thirdly, you need to give your pet the opportunity to give Reiki. You will want to be with people who like animals and are willing to let the dog, cat, iguana or whatever animal touch them. You will also want to make sure your pet is clean and well groomed. In addition, being in a space where your pet can move around comfortably on their own free will is helpful. I found out for my dog it helps to invite Archangel Raphael in while working with the Reiki.

Lastly, stay open to noticing just how your pet gives Reiki. Animals may use different parts of their body to give Reiki. For instance, horses attuned to Reiki use their hind end to give root chakra energy to ground people and support physical healing. I noticed Ace doing this during the Reiki share. While giving to me, he even put his hind end up by my face, which he normally doesn’t do. This felt grounding to my mental energy. So be aware of the different many ways your pet shares the gift of Reiki with you and others.

I would love to hear your experience with your Reiki animal.

In loving light,
